CONTEXT

When S&P Global Platts wanted to launch a new analytics division and
products in response to increasing market need for a view on future commodity value, we needed to do something extra special to encourage audiences to readdress

Platts’ traditional role in the market as reporters of historical pricing data and hard facts. Bringing to life their analyst insights and opinions would therefore be crucial in conveying how Platts are now so much more than a data provider.

Solution

Following conducting customer research in key global hubs, we ran a series of planning workshops and internal stakeholder interviews. We then developed the messaging for Platts’ Analytics offering and helped devise and implement the strategy and creative approach for launch. Focusing on the London Oil & Energy Forum, a must-attend event for industry decision makers, we wanted to bring genuine value to delegates by demonstrating Platts Analysts’ unique insights and connected thinking in a tangible, engaging and memorable way.

Our Solution was the Platts Insights Zone – a 360 degree Immersive, Shared VR Experience with bespoke content we created to bring to life Platts connected thinking.

The Insights Zone utilized a media projection structure and incorporated several layers of content: a unique data visualisation of Platts data sets, an animated introductory video and a ‘Trade Flow Story’ enabling Platts market analysts to share insights and content from their analytical tools.

Outcome

Attendance from a select group of C-Suite clients and prospects from the commodities and banking industries was above expectation, with new sales conversations generated. Internal and external feedback resulted in Platts taking the installation on a global roadshow to showcase its analytics offering. It’s also now used for internal engagement and training.
